In October of 2022, our members lost a coworker, Steve Nothem, to tragic circumstances. To honor him, the CPOA board decided to create a scholarship in his name and offer it to our community. We wanted to reward and encourage young people to enter law enforcement and be part of our community. Below are the requirements for the scholarship.

- The applicant is a graduating High School Senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale OR 80 points or better on a 100 point scale AND has been accepted into or intends to attend a recognized University, Junior College or Community College upon graduation.
- Applicants shall submit a copy of a college acceptance letter or course schedule and their high school transcript.
- Provide 2-3 reference letters, preference would be at least one of those references be in law enforcement.
- Two-to-three-page essay on the applicant’s work within their community and post high school goals. This essay should describe how they have show interest in a law enforcement career and what steps they’ve taken to develop those interests.
The Scholarship is for $5,000 and will be awarded to one winner. This Scholarship is funded via our Charities portion of the Association and we are thankful for all those that attend our fund raisers throughout the year, The Mother Son Monster Mash, the Daddy Daughter Dance and the Steve Nothem Golf Tournament.
